Electrical Safety Checks Derby Electricians

Electrical Safety Checks

How often does an EICR need to be done?

Landlords will need to make sure all electrical installations in their property are inspected and tested every five years by a qualified and approved electrician. You’re legally obliged to supply a copy of the inspection and test report to new, existing and prospective tenants, as well as your local authority if they ask for it. The report will set a date for your next inspection and test.

Is an EICR a legal requirement in England?

The government have released information this week (08/06/2020) on their new electrical safety standards in the private rented sector. As a landlord, we can help you with complying with these rules, which include new inspection and testing requirements for all your tenancies. There is a potential fine of up to £30,000 if the new regulations are not adhered to satisfactorily.
